Sorry, no reckless violence and police pursuits and prostitutes... yet.

The BBC announced that they're making a new drama for their BBC Two channel "based on Grand Theft Auto." Incredibly exciting, right? Definitely—but just not in the way you're thinking.

Instead of a television crime drama based on the often-homicidal exploits of San Andreas or Vice City or Liberty City, we're getting a reality show on how Grand Theft Auto the video game came to be instead.

Calling it "one of the most extraordinary creative and controversial success stories of our time," the BBC has revealed very few details, although Kotaku is exclusively reporting that the show will document the development of Grand Theft Auto at Rockstar North, which still sounds like something we'd tune into anyway.

But still: We can cling onto hope for a crime drama one day, right?
