A handful of gigs followed, which led to recording sessions for the band’s first album since 1990’s Pandemonium. In September 2011, due to Prince’s ownership of their name, the members -- Morris Day, Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, Jesse Johnson, Jellybean Johnson, Monte Moir, and Jerome Benton -- renamed themselves the Original 7ven. A month later, the Original 7ven released Condensate, an album that put a modern spin on the old Time playbook with playful and swaggering synth-funk grooves. ~ Andy Kellman
